I’ve had the joy of serving as one of the pastors of Pleasant Valley Community Church for a little over four years now. When God began to orchestrate the events that led to our invitation to join the staff and my wife Angela and I were praying about coming and visiting when we could, one thing was very clear to us about Pleasant Valley– This was a church that was deeply committed to orphan care ministry, and we LOVED that! There was a Gospel-centered, kid-loving culture that existed where adoption and fostering and mentoring and advocacy were somewhat of the norm, and we found ourselves desperately desiring to be a part of it.
I’m happy to report that by God’s good grace He saw fit to bring us to Pleasant Valley, and the culture that we saw and loved then still exists and thrives even more today than it did four years ago! This Sunday, November 2, 2014, is Orphan Sunday and it is one of our favorite days of the year around here. On Orphan Sunday we’ll join churches around our city, state, nation and world uniting on one day, with one voice, and for one purpose. We’ll celebrate the adoptions that we’ve seen in our church and those who are engaged in orphan care in a number of different ways. We’ll pray, sing, and preach to the end of causing us to think deeply about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth that as those who have ourselves been rescued, we must turn our attention to those who are in need of rescue. It’s going to be a great day!
We’d love to have you celebrate Jesus and Orphan Sunday with us this Sunday, November 2, 2014. Click here for service times and directions… We’ll save you a seat!
