Jamus Edwards
Pastor of Preaching & Vision

A native of Cadiz, Kentucky, Jamus attended Murray State University where he earned a B.S. in Organizational Communication and a minor in Youth and Non-Profit Leadership. It was during his time at MSU where he met the love of his life, Annie Leigh. They were married in July of 2005 and have since had James, Ellie, and Cruse. Jamus and Annie moved to Owensboro in 2006 to re-plant Pleasant Valley Community Church.

Jamus earned his Master of Divinity and Ph.D. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.   He serves as an adjunct professor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Western Kentucky University.

Brandon Swanner
Pastor of Worship & Media

Born in London, Kentucky, Brandon obtained a B.S. in Biblical Studies in 2008 and studied at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. On January 15, 2005 Brandon married his partner in life and ministry, Tara. In the same year Brandon and Tara began to serve formally at Cornerstone Baptist Church in London, Ky where Brandon was pastor.

After serving for three years at Cornerstone, Brandon joined Jamus Edwards on staff in July of 2007. Brandon and Tara are blessed with five children: Taylor, Sydney, Christian, Jaden, and Chandler who they recently adopted from South Korea.

Jeremy Hatfield
Executive Pastor

A native of Eddyville, Kentucky, Jeremy moved to Owensboro in the summer of 1994 where he met and married his beautiful bride Angela in the spring of 1998. Since then, the Lord has blessed them with nine amazing children: Millie, Rudy, Mya, Grace, Keegan, Kenzlie, Aliya and twins Kaiden and Kianna. Jeremy plans to continue pursuing higher education at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jeremy has served in a number of ministerial and pastoral capacities over the years. In the fall of 2010 he was called to Pleasant Valley to serve as the Pastor for Families and Children, and in 2014 he transitioned to the role of Executive Pastor overseeing all of the operations of Pleasant Valley Community Church.

bradBrad Rhoads
Pastor of Marriage and Counseling

Brad was born in Fort Eustis, Virginia while his father was in the army. Ultimately, his family settled in Madisonville, Kentucky where he graduated high school.  He went to Furman University and graduated in 1990, going on to graduate from law school in 1993.  After practicing law in Nashville for three years, Brad was profoundly blessed and privileged to meet, date and marry his wife Marilyn. In 1996, they moved to Owensboro, Kentucky and now have five children, Madeline, Kate Bradley, Abby, Matthew and Rachel.

Brad has been active in various local ministries including a local youth ministry, MentorKidsKY, Friends of Sinners and, most recently, has been very active in marriage and counseling ministry. God has granted Brad and Marilyn a heart to share the gospel, disciple, and encourage believers through counseling and marriage ministry.

Matt Woodfall
Pastor of Missional Community Life and Member Care

Matt was born and raised in Mt. Vernon, IL and attended Murray State University where he earned a B.S. degree in Recreation and Leisure Services with a minor in Drafting Design. After graduating Matt moved back to Mt. Vernon, married his wife Janna and began his time in ministry as a youth pastor. In February 2006, in zero degree weather, they moved their young family to Owensboro, KY. Matt and Janna now have four sons, Titus, Isaac, Josiah, and Silas.

Matt has worked on (and still yet to finish) his Master of Divinity from both the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to serving as a Pastor at PVCC, Matt was the Executive Director of MentorKids KY since 2009.

Caleb Potter
Pastor of Counseling Ministries

Caleb grew up in Oklahoma where he attended Oklahoma Baptist University, earning a B.A. in Pastoral Ministry. He then moved to Kentucky where he hoped to become a professional rock climber, but instead attended and graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. It was there in Louisville where he met his lily among the thorns, Jessica. After getting married the two moved to Owensboro to begin their family. They now have four children: Coen, Bennett, Brooks, and Vera and Caleb couldn’t climb a ladder if you paid him, let alone a rock.

Caleb serves Pleasant Valley by offering biblical counseling to the members and surrounding community, specializing in grief and loss. He works full time as the Bereavement Coordinator for Hospice of Western Kentucky where he oversees various avenues of emotional support for grieving families.

Staff

Andy Norris
Communications Coordinator

Andy was born in Owensboro, Kentucky and attended The University of Kentucky where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Integrated Strategic Communication in 2011.

After serving in a number of different churches around the country in both lay and staff capacities, he moved back to Owensboro in August of 2012 and began attending PVCC while he pursued further education at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He formally joined the staff at PVCC in December of 2012, and went on to graduate with his Master of Divinity in Great Commission Ministries from Southern in 2013.

Andy met his wife, Taryn, at the Connect Desk at PVCC, and they were married in 2016.

Hilary Patterson
Director of Children’s Ministries

Hilary was born in Owensboro, Kentucky and attended Owensboro Community and Technical College where she studied Early Childhood Education.  Hilary has been a part of Pleasant Valley since it began back in 2006, attending faithfully while working in schools around Daviess County as a preschool assistant, after-school teacher, and an aide working with children dealing with Autism.

Hilary came on staff at PVCC working as the Nursery Coordinator, and became the Director of Children’s Ministries in 2014.

Hilary married her husband Josh in 2011, and they are blessed with two children: Olivia Grace and Jah (who they are currently in the process of officially adopting).

Denise Shelton
Ministry Assistant

Denise was raised in Owensboro and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College where she earned an Associates Degree in Commercial Art. After a career in graphic design, she and her husband John began a part-time business retouching photographs in their home.

In 2010 she accepted the part-time ministry assistant position at PVCC. She does clerical work, keeps the membership updated and assembles the slides for various gatherings. Denise and John have 5 children and 6 grandchildren.

Rachael Lynn
Administrative Assistant

Despite being born in Memphis, Rachael spent most of her life living in Upstate New York  (Go Yankees!).  She moved to Kentucky in 2012 to be closer to her family, most especially her 5 adorable nieces.

Prior to starting work at PVCC in April 2015, Rachael worked for a large medical practice in Bowling Green, KY.  She also has 13 years experience working for a large hospice organization in New York, where she was the Office Manager.

Here at PVCC, Rachael makes sure all bills are paid and all deposits are made.  She works with Pastor Jeremy to ensure the budget and financial goals are on the right track.  She and her dog Riley live in a small house here in Owensboro, surrounded on all sides by retirees.
